Artist’s Statement

Art provides, for me, the purest form of both internal and external self-expression.  Three dimensional art adds a holistic level to my ability to communicate my thoughts and feelings.  Because of its malleability, clay is my medium of choice.  In addition, however, I find that the smell of wet earth, as well as the feel of it in my hands, conjures a primal place within me that is both sensual and inspiring.

While studying art therapy in New Mexico, I became acquainted with the concept of ancient and modern female archetypes. Thus inspired, I began sculpting my own interpretations of those archetypes in contemporary abstract form.
